THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION is the foundation for creating "a viable, transformed community with people from every tribe in the Sudan reconciled before God and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ." Graduates of ECS theological colleges are among the best educated members of their communities. Their curriculum includes theology, biblical languages, scripture, conflict resolution, and community development as well as basic training in public health and agriculture. Read more... |

EDUCATION is a fundamental human right and a crucial tool for lifting economically and socially marginalized persons out of poverty. The people of Sudan – especially those in Southern Sudan – have an alarming low level of literacy. In partnership with the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and other interested parties, the ECS builds and operates schools and administers a teacher training program. Read more... |

COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE and NUTRITION are essential components of a stable social structure. High incidence of disease combined with an extreme shortage of healthcare workers and facilities puts the people of Sudan at risk. Just as Jesus' works of healing are never far separated from his ministry, so too the ECS offers basic services at diocesan primary care clinics. The Province aspires to expand services and improve the quality of care provided. Read more... |

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE promotes food security, hunger relief, income generation, and support for clergy and lay leaders. The province has several pieces of fertile farmland that it plans to develop for large-scale commercial production. Most dioceses have some parish level gardens; fifteen have diocesan level farm/garden projects. Expansion plans await training on advanced cultivation techniques along with start-up capital for tools and seeds. Read more... |
